Hip Circles

"Hip Circles" is an exercise that can be incorporated over and over again to mobilize and relax the hip joints and lower back. This exercise does not require any preliminary practice and can be incorporated into everyday life.

Exercise description

In the supine position, we pull our legs bent and straddled shoulder-width toward our chest, place our hands on our kneecaps and bring them in circular motions away from our body at arm's length and back toward our chest. The edges of the feet stay together at all times. Breathing flows with this.

The whole sequence can be repeated several times and also the direction can be changed again and again.

Pro Tip From Maria

Place hands on the kneecaps like two large band-aids. The hands gently guide the leg movement and also do not apply specific pressure. This makes the movement very relaxing.

Most common errors

The feet detach from each other. Here there is a risk that the circular movements become too great and you may offend the sacroiliac joint (ISG).
